- Understand your rights: Learn about your passenger rights related to delays, so you know what you’re entitled to. You may be entitled to care or a new flight free of charge.

Flight Cancelled Due to Air Traffic Control? Compensation Is Not Due
If your Vueling flight is cancelled due to air traffic control restrictions, compensation is not due because ATC disruptions are classified as extraordinary circumstances under EU261.
Since the cause lies outside the airline’s control, Vueling is not required to pay financial compensation.
However, you still retain important rights: you can choose between a refund or re-routing on the next available flight, and the airline must provide care, such as meals, refreshments, communication access, and hotel accommodation when needed.
While compensation isn’t applicable, your core passenger protections remain in place.
Air Traffic Control Strike: Compensation Is Not Owed
In cases of an air traffic control strike, compensation is not owed because the disruption is considered an extraordinary circumstance, just like other ATC issues.
Although Vueling is not financially liable for these delays, they are still responsible for looking after passengers during long waits. This means you retain your right to care, which includes meals, refreshments, communication access, and hotel accommodation if an overnight stay becomes necessary.
If the strike leads to a flight cancellation, you also keep your right to choose between a refund or re-routing on the next available flight. While you can’t claim compensation, you’re still protected and supported throughout the disruption.
If the disruption is caused by a strike among Vueling’s own employees, it does not qualify as an extraordinary circumstance. That means you may be eligible for full Vueling strike compensation.
If your Vueling trip is affected by a flight delay due to air traffic control, you’re still entitled to care and assistance, even though compensation does not apply.
