Vueling Flight Delay Compensation

Vueling flight delay compensation.

How to claim for delayed flight? And how much can you get?

In certain situations, you are entitled to EU flight delay compensation. According to the EU regulation, you are entitled to compensation if your flight is delayed for 3+ hours due to the airline’s fault. In this case, it doesn’t matter what is your age, nationality, ticket price, or whether or not you have insurance. Thanks to the laws in the EU, all travellers in the EU are protected. And Vueling has to follow these laws. How to claim compensation for a delayed flight?

One of the options is to let professionals deal with this.

Or, you can pursue flight delay compensation on your own.

Vueling: A Well-Known Spanish Budget Airline

Vueling is a Spanish low-cost airline that was founded in 2004.

The airline operates flights to over 120 destinations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Despite being a low-cost airline, Vueling offers a comfortable in-flight experience.

Vueling is known for its affordable fares that make it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. The airline offers two types of fares: basic and optima. Basic fares include a seat and a small carry-on bag, while optima fares include a checked bag and priority boarding. The airline also offers a loyalty program called Vueling Club, which rewards frequent flyers with discounts and other benefits.

With a strong focus on customer satisfaction and affordable prices, Vueling has become one of the most preferred budget airlines in Europe.

1. Vueling Flight Delay Compensation: EU Regulations

Overall, the EU flight delay compensation rules are simple.

Have you arrived at your destination 3 or more hours later than scheduled? And this delay is due to the airline’s fault? Then you might be entitled to compensation from your airline.

If you’re flying to or from Europe, your flight is delayed for 3 or more hours, and the delay is due to the fault of Vueling, you are eligible to compensation of up to €600.

Could you be entitled to Vueling flight delay compensation?

Yes, if your Vueling flight meets these criteria:

  • It’s a 3+ hour delay;
  • It’s due to the fault of the airline;
  • Flight departs from/arrives in/is within Europe (the EU, EEA, UK).

So, all the above mentioned rules apply to all Vueling delays and cancellations.

By Europe and EU here on this page (and on this website in general) we mean all EU Member States, the United Kingdom (UK), Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Reunion, Mayotte, Saint Martin (French Antilles), the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands, Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland.

1.1 Extraordinary Circumstances

There are situations when you aren’t eligible for compensation.

Flights delayed due to “extraordinary circumstances” are not eligible to compensation.

Extraordinary circumstances are situations which are considered to be out of the airline’s control. Such situations are: bad weather, natural disaster, civil unrest, terrorism threat, security issues at the airport and some strikes. In such situations you can’t get European flight delay compensation.

What about strikes? A Vueling staff strike is not an extraordinary circumstance. Airline staff strikes are considered the airline’s fault.

One more thing to remember is that not always airlines are telling the real reason for delay. That’s why when in doubt, double check what you’re told.

To avoid paying compensation airlines often tell their passengers wrong reasons for delay. And that’s how they wrongly deny compensation claims — by not telling the right reasons. That’s why you always have to ask for proof, and be persistent.

To avoid this hassle, work with a flight compensation company. They can check your flight and claim compensation on your behalf. Our partners offer such services.

1.2 How to Calculate the Delay Time?

What really matters is the time of arrival to your destination.

Flight delay time is calculated based on the actual time of arrival to your destination, specifically, when the doors of the airplane are opened. If the doors are opened 3 or more hours after the original arrival time, you can get compensation. Keep in mind that you can’t calculate the delay time based on the time of departure.

If you have a connecting flight, calculate the delay time at your final destination (last stop). It doesn’t matter how much later one of your flight legs departed. As long as you arrive 3+ hours later at your final destination. If this delay is due to the airline’s fault, you might be entitled to flight delay compensation.

1.3 Right to Care

In Europe you also have a right to care.

When your flight is heavily delayed, and you are stranded at the airport, you have a right to care. As long as the waiting time at the airport is at least 3 hours.

Vueling must offer you free meals and drinks in a reasonable relation to the waiting time, two free phone calls, e-mails or faxes. If the flight is delayed overnight, you should be offered accommodation and transportation from and to the airport as well. In Europe all passengers are eligible for this type of care from the airline.

2.1 How Long Does It Take?

No matter how you proceed, it isn’t a short process.

Compensation claims take anywhere from 2 to several months.

If you are lucky, and the airline cooperates, you might get the money after 2-3 months. If not, it could take a few months until Vueling flight delay compensation is transferred to your bank account. The airline might wrongly deny your claim or even not reply to your messages at all. If that’s the case, you will need to take your case to court or national enforcement body.

3. How Much Can You Claim?

The compensation amount is fixed and range from €250 to €600.

How to calculate your Vueling delayed flight compensation?

Use this simple flight delay compensation calculator.

When your destination is within the EU/UK:

€250

If the distance of your flight is
up to 1,500 km

€400

If the distance of your flight is between 1,500 – 3,500 km

When your destination is outside the EU/UK:

€250

If the distance of your flight is
up to 1,500 km

€400

If the distance of your flight is between 1,500 – 3,500 km

€600

If the distance of your flight is more than 3,500 km

There’s one exception. When the flight distance is 3500+ kilometres and you reach your destination 3 to 4 hours later than planned, you are entitled only to 50% of the compensation amount (that means €300, not €600).

When claiming compensation on your own, it is important to be aware of the entitled compensation amounts. For instance, if you have taken a long-haul flight, you may be eligible for a flight compensation of 600 EUR. Refrain from accepting any lesser compensation and make sure to always request the appropriate compensation amount when filing a claim.

3.1 Vueling Voucher Refund or Cash?

You might be offered a Vueling voucher instead of compensation.

Airlines may offer coupons instead of cash compensation for a variety of reasons. One reason could be that they want to encourage the passenger to continue to use their airline in the future, and a coupon or voucher can be a way to incentivize this behavior. Additionally, coupons or vouchers may be easier for the airline to manage than providing cash compensation. Finally, it could simply be a matter of cost – coupons or vouchers may be less expensive for the airline to provide than cash compensation.

However, it is important to note that passengers are often entitled to cash compensation, and should not accept coupons or vouchers. Because in the European Union, airline compensations and refunds are paid in cash or by bank transfer.

Are you offered a voucher? Ask Vueling to transfer compensation to your bank account.
